While I have a home here on Medium, it is often a secondary avenue for writing outside of my main goals which is to publish in paying publications.

What it takes

If you have a base level of writing and reporting skills, clips (what medium is good for), the tenacity to catch an editor’s attention, good ideas in the present (known as pitches), and good expertise, you could potentially break through the freelance market.

Why is this a world worth exploring?

  1. Generally, the world of writing outside of Medium offers basic rates and flat fees. It saves you the time needed to promote the articles. While occasionally, an article hits enough page views to make you substantial payoff, you’ll usually always get yourself a pretty decent payday (it ranges from $50-$500 usually, so there’s a very wide range)
