Yeah, I have a cousin who just came out as non-binary. I think it's pretty confusing and I think they might fall under "doing it because it's a trend". I have sought out a non-binary acuaintance who runs workshops on coming to terms with transgender relatives for helping understand this. I mentioned to someone on Medium and they came at me pretty harshly and trolled me on twitter even.
