I am aided in this by patreonage but it simply helps that making YouTube videos has simply been artistically fulfilling.
I still enjoy riffing off television in written form (especially, when it’s shorter) but there’s a learning/experimentation aspect to this. At first, I really enjoyed the art of selecting the right music for the scene (often called “needle drops”) but I’m experimenting with timing and the rates at which I switch images. I have tried to have two standard fonts at this point (one for the show titles) and insert my favorite music into the show titles.
My main motto is “as long as something interesting is on screen, it will augment my words,” so having the mindset that pretty much anything I do is additive as opposed to an audio-only podcast.
If I had to make a list of my favorite shows of 2023 so far off the top of my head, it would go something like this:
