Top 25 “C” Tourist Attractions

For reference, I’ve been to about 16 countries and 37–40 states (some of them I barely stopped). I spent most of my time thinking about the rankings so feel free to debate me on those. Check out more of my series here.

1. Chichen Itza, Yucatan, Mexico- Often considered one of the seven wonders of the world, the fully restored Maya city contains astronomy temples, a pyramid temple, cenotes (from which sacrifices were performed), and a ballgame where the deadly game of pok-a-tok.

2. Copacabana, Bolivia-The beach town on the coast of Lake Titicaca is lined with history, vistas, and culture, but most importantly it is the point of embarkation for many excursions. Fun fact: It is also the namesake for the Brazilian town that inspired the title of the Barry Manilow song.

3. Castillo San Jorge, Lisbon, Portugal-Lisbon is the 2nd oldest city in Europe and this nearly 1000-year-old castle reveals multiple layers of the city’s history with vistas and on-site excavation. It boasts great views, isn’t overly commercialized with food options, and has peacocks and other random wild life patrolling the grounds.

4. Columbia River Gorge, Hood River, Oregon-Spectacular waterfalls and lush coniferous greenery are visible southward as you drive along I-84 in one of the nation’s most impressive highway vistas.
