Am I the only one who is disgusted by Trumpism but still can’t wrap my head around the idea of the Baseball Hall of Fame rejecting a Trumpist like Curt Schilling because of his politics? Curt Schilling was rejected by the Hall of Fame yesterday and voters tried to change their ballots after the January 6th riots.

The job of the Hall of Fame is to curate a list of the best baseball players. If the powers that be filtered candidates out by personal preference of any kind (including whether he’s a misogynist or homophobe or has clashing political views), then they are no longer a legitimate institution.

Sure, if someone did something that impacted their playing like use steroids, that is different. But as long as a man legitimately pitched a ball or hit it better than the competition in a legal manner, that should be what counts. To deny that Schilling did those things is to present an alternate set of facts that the left (including myself) detests the right for doing so often.

There can certainly be limits. I would be in favor of an addendum that he’s not allowed to give a speech because I can imagine it would probably be unpleasant.

I constantly am defending against the idea that the media is unfairly leftist, but if HOF votes are done by sports writers, they’re making my job that much harder and militarizing the right way easier.

Schilling was recently quoted as saying:
“Having said all that the media has created a Curt Schilling that does not and has never existed. It’s one of the things that has allowed me to sleep at night. Not an ounce of that is to absolve myself of sin, Lord knows I’ve committed my share and will do so again. Never malicious, never to willfully or intentionally hurt another person. I was 100% accountable and still am. Even the thought of responding to claims of “nazi” or “racist” or any other term so watered down and rendered meaningless by spineless cowards who have never met me makes me ill. In modern times responding to such drivel somehow validates the claim.”

He further called out the media vote hypocrisy:

“I’ve certainly been exposed to racism and sexism and homophobia as it’s part of who human beings…
