So pro-life women are no longer feminists?
Tish Harrison Warren penned a column in the New York Times on why the feminist women needs pro-lifers.
Robyn Pennacchia at Wonkette has a response that basically comes down, to “no, you’re not allowed into our club.
I regularly read Wonkette because I enjoy the snarky take on the (seriously) evil Republican party. It’s often the only way to digest just how bad they are.
At the same time, I hardly see the point in declaring who can fight for equal rights for women and who can’t. I’m a Democrat because I vote for democrats in every election because of their views on immigration, guns, the environment, labor, abortion, and more.
At the same time, I’m loudly against wokeness and would disagree with many on the site about whether racism, sexism, or homophobia are the greatest problems facing our country or the need to put all those eggs in those baskets. Still, you can’t stop me from being a Democrat or campaigning for democrats, so why would you want to disown an ally?
Most of what Robyn posts here is poking holes at Warren’s arguments on abortion, but that’s missing the point. Disowning Tish Harrison Warren’s views on abortion doesn’t detract from the fact that Warren can fight for women’s rights issues in matters other than abortion. More than that, it’s Warren’s right to be a feminist no matter what other Democrats feel about it. They have the option to acknowledge that reality and leverage it or not do that.
