Maybe you should not speak for people who are upset with the woke lens with which most people view TV criticism these days.

I am happy to see diversity and, yes, there is a lot of it, and some of it is shoehorned in, but I don't mind.

The thing that gets me upset is the claims that Hollywood is racist or anti-diversity or that progress hasn't been made (look at your final line on this essay) when it's clearly inaccurate that Hollywood is not greenlighting films of people of color or gay characters.

Additionally, when one show gets cancelled that is LGBT-friendly, female-created or showcases people of color, these woke segments rise up as if a crime against humanity has been committed and that's a bogus cause. These shows shouldn't be so lionized that they don't have protected status against commercial forces and if these people were so adamant about the shows' existence, you'd think they'd have watched them in the first place and prevented the cancellation.

Rather than turning Hollywood into some poorly-drawn straw man mustache-twirling villain who hates dark-skinned people, you can acknowledge that Hollywood is a market-driven machine and support the films and TV shows through the market.
