Someone today told me there’s no debate on whether Elon Musk is a racist and sexist after citing this article.

My response

Oh there absolutely is a debate and it’s worth getting into now that we’ve tragically lost the election. I worked for 11 weeks over the past 3 years on democratic campaigns and your type of black-and-white thinking is undoing my work.

First of all, I absolutely do not believe in anything like fake news or that the mainstream media is composed of anything but hard-working professionals in their political writing, but when it comes to culture writing and cancel culture, that’s another thing. You have to know that Verge, Vox, and VF have on their writer guidelines that they look for people of “underrepresented minorities” and they do have a mission that aligns with identity politics in what they write.

Secondly, the people who wake up every morning thinking about race are the largely white allies like I’m presuming yourself and people who are affected by racism, who the election numbers and my own experience shows you are losing track of.

Racists (people who believe one race is superior to another) are a very small subset of the population compared to this red scare. Instead, racism is a set of beliefs and biases that everyone…
