I think 2016 is the point where it seemed like identity politics really started to become the be-all end-all of how certain segments of the left see society. It's unfortunately not even indicative or how Latinos or Blacks see themselves and their aims as shown by election results and elections impact societal change a thousand times more than the think pieces and twitter campaigns my fellow Liberals perform against well-meaning people.
