I agree with a lot of what you say.
I also don't understand why AAVE should be celebrated. I support people using it all they want, but Black people should still have to past standardized tests and demonstrate a knowledge of English if they want to get ahead. Tests serve a function and I don't see a point to erasing SATs and testing.
I'm hearing from young people today that grammar is racist and that's ridiculous. Grammar might be overrated, and perhaps we need to be more accepting of AAVE and incorporate some of it into the standard language, but if you're testing linguistic skills, you need a standard. Anyone born in the US is born in an English-speaking environment and goes to a school where they know just as much English as the next person.
