Having been campaigning in North Carolina for the general election and then in Georgia for the January 5th and talking to voters of a number of persuasions and even orientations, I can definitely say that the intellectual sphere of the internet and the practical sphere are much different.
They have to justify their loyalties because they are attacked more often on the basis of their beliefs. And I'm thankful that they voice it out because they could just go underground, keep their opinions hidden from others, and just silently vote against us.
What I see is that their belief system has to be modulated as news events or executive actions happen. It's not so much a "how can I justify this evil" for some of these people but "how do i reconcile this new information with my long-standing beliefs"
Beliefs come in three levels and the core beliefs are the hardest to shake, and those are often tied to political principals.
