Are We As Democrats Any Better For Cancelling Pat Sajak?

In case you’ve been sleeping under a rock in the last 24 hours, it’s recently come to light that Sajak was seen posing for a picture with Marjorie Taylor Greene and further digging on Twitter has shown that Sajak is aligned with the conservative party.

Some Information I Can Provide as a Journalist:

It’s worth noting that, people take pictures with celebrities all the time. I was once a member of the National Press Club and many respected reporters got their pictures taken with Donald Trump, his corrupt Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross, Newt Gingrich or Dick Cheney. They would often host them at fancy lunches and it would be terrible decorum for the moderators of the event or anyone there to be openly rude about the featured guests. These events were also an opportunity for the guests to take questions. This was a form of the accountability that the press is designed for, but you had to get them in the room and be civil first.

While we might question Sajak’s lack of hostility towards Greene, my point is there are certain contexts where being hostile to people like Marjorie Taylor Greene or Newt Gingrich at a formal event would simply not be effective. This is a context that people on Twitter are sorely lacking if they are implying that posing for a picture and smiling indicates that you’ve sold…
