This is a pitch I recently dug up and started repitching it because I realized that we’re approaching the 100th Anniversary:

Although the term “Trial of the Century” gets overused fairly often, few trials I have to show that this is a superlative of some sort have taken as strong a hold in our national imagination I’m treating the audience for this pitch as if they’re marginally familiar with this as the 1925 Scopes Monkey Trial in Dayton, Tennessee. The trial pitted evolution versus science with two of the era’s greatest legal minds — three-time presidential candidate William Jennings Bryan and celebrity trial lawyer Clarence Darrow Not too much description, a couple modifiers will do — arguing the merits of a law which prohibited the teaching of Darwinism in schools.
