Actually, I have attended a trans ally workshop and plan to attend another one. I still think the atmosphere of civility and openness is stifling among people subscribe to identity politics.
I don't have beliefs, Gemma. I don't know about the subject enough to comment. Right now where I stand, is that I just don't know the science for people declaring that they're not a gender and a very high percentage of youth is declaring themselves queer in some way. In my class, I learned there are 6 levels of acceptance/rejection towards the LGBT community. The 5th is full acceptance and the easiest way to fully accept someone is if you believe it, so I wouldn't mind believing it.
If you want to call me shitty and alienate me from discussion, it's a far greater cry from civility then there used to be 10 years ago.
